In our experience there are three ways in which Chia is added into users’ diets: Drinks and Smoothies, Toppings and Dressings and General Cooking. We have over 1,500 recipes on our Pinterest boards for you to try and experiment with so you’ll never be short of something new to try. See the link below.
Drinks and Smoothies
Adding Chia to a drink or smoothie is the simplest way to add Chia to your diet. Chia seeds are very similar in size and texture to strawberry or poppy seeds. In a drink or smoothie, the seeds take on the flavour of the drink and add a delightful crunch. One of our personal favourites are smoothies and protein shakes, but one of the most common ways to consume Chia is by making a Chia Fresca, a cold lemon flavoured drink laced with Chia.
Toppings and Dressings
Another really simple way to add Chia to your diet is as a topping or salad dressing. Simply sprinkle Chia on to salads, sandwiches, deserts etc or use Chia to make a tasty vinaigrette. You can even soak it in fruit juice and pour it over ice cream to make a delicious treat.
As a cooking ingredient, Chia is extremely versatile. The seed can be soaked in water to release the gel, which then can be used as an alternative for cooking oil, butter or eggs. Alternatively, the seed can be introduced directly to most recipes, adding to the nutritional content and enhancing the texture, but without any compromise to taste.
